Breaking ~ Your News At A Glance App Reviews

30 add

Why?

You cant even open the RSS feeds in the app itself ... just the Today View? Im sorry but there must be something Im missing to validate the $3.49 I blew on this app.

Love this app!

Love this app more and more with every update! Love the addition of Pocket to the mix!

Nearly perfect news widget!!!

With multiple browser and reader service support, the only thing missing from this great app is something that would probably be too complex to implement - syncing with your favorite news reader service (Feedly in my case). Besides that wish, I find that Breaking has everything I want in a widget for quickly skimming over, saving for later reading, or immediately viewing the latest articles from your favourite news or blog feeds.

Garbage

Absolute garbage. The app doesnt load any feeds.

Great Start but...

Needs a menu or something to help you locate rss news sites, for local, national and international news. Need categories to help find your interests, eg. Local news, lifestyle, medical, etc... Need a way to prioritize your news feeds as you cant display everything in the today widget.

Alpha

I really like robocat; however, this version seems like it was rushed out way too quickly as it doesnt work at all and if it does, it is really glitchy and lacks polish. For example - the Today widget either shows an empty screen or Unable to Load. Same issue occurs on OS X. :/

It had one job...

The idea is a really good one: Integrate an RSS reader into the Notification areas of OS X and iOS. Have them all synch through the iCloud so all of your feeds are always wherever you are. On OS X it gets about 75% there. The search feature doesn’t work. That’s another review, though. On iOS it doesn’t seem to update. This is the one job it’s supposed to do and, unless I’m missing something, it won’t update neither on my iPhone or my iPad. Each show, in the notification area, the original feeds that were loaded when I initially synch’d up. It’s been nearly 24 hours and I’m still looking at news from yesterday. I’ve gone through all of the settings and set it to update in the background and use cellular when needed and I still get nothing. Actually, I do get something: "Unable to load.” I either get the original news items from when I originally setup the feeds or “Unable to load.” Hopefully they’ll release an update soon and fix it because it’s a good idea. Right now, if you’re thinking about purchasing this you should hold off because it just doesn’t work.

Works fine for me

You have to type the full site in there... Works fine for me not sure if the other dummies were smart enough to figure that out...

Not what I was expecting for the price

I assumed this was like any other RSS reader but included a Today widget. Nope. This *literally* does one thing, it *only* shows feeds in the Today widget. You cant read the articles in the app. You cant star or save articles for later. In fact, the app is nothing more than a Settings page.

Great New App

Great app! I never have time to keep up with the news, but this app makes news simple and fast.

one of the best widgets

love have my important feeds right in the Notification Center. does it well and clean. recommended for sure

Only 3 stories?

I was under the impression it was up to 5. I dont understand. Please fix. 2.99 is a lot for an app.

Best App

This is a wonderful app. It give me all the latest news. It was worth the $2.99. I am rating this at a five star.

Good idea, bad functionality

App makes you delete same feeds over and over and over, as it refreshes they reappear and you have to constantly delete. Sensitivity to touch to read an article is very bad you have to almost break glass to touch to read.

No longer works

Loads a list of articles in the news feed, then disappears with a message "unable to load" -- frustrating as the app is now useless.

Quoting Steve Jobs, "This is a feature, not a product."

First off, why would you release without the ability to import OMPL files? Anyways, it does one thing… I mean one - it posts to the notification bar. So, most places do about 20-30 articles a day, so if you read them as they come - great! It will just take over your life. Also, it gets overloaded and crashes or doubles up. So, if you’re just keeping track of 1 or 2 feeds - thats awesome! But if you are, there’s probably an app for that website that will do it better and it’s free.

Seemed so promising...

Installs fine. Setup went smooth with 2 separate feeds. After the first time I rebooted my phone it has not been able to read feeds. I have since removed it. Will try again after the next update.

It just doesnt work.

Whenever I use the widget on my iPhone it says "Unable to load" or just doesnt even load anything. Works better on my iPad. Whenever it works consistently I will update the review.

Suckered into this purchase

I read an article on app advice and purchased this, since I dont have an rss reader app. Turned out to be a waste of two dollars. Read the other reviews, since mine would be redundant, the widget is fine but the app is terrible. Cant read the stories from the app.. So youre paying $2 to have a few news stories show up on your today view. Ridiculous. Hope it improves

Has promise

But it is not there yet. Very confusing to start with. Instructions dont seem to relate to the iPad app. Stories appear to the left in little teeny tiny boxes that are hard to read. Some significant feeds such as the Wall Street Journal, dont appear to be available at all. Still, the idea has promise. I will stick with it for awhile to see if it grows. Its a good example of why apps should have free test drives before we commit to buy.
